The Science Technology Research and Work Study [STRaWS] Initiative (established in 2021), is a non-profit, civil society organization based and registered in St. Kitts and Nevis. Our members, persons of various personal and professional backgrounds, operate as a quasi-technical working group that is dedicated to community-based participatory research and outreach.

In other words we work hard to reduce vulnerability to system deficits and environmental stressors such as those driven by climate change, particularly as it relates to health. We strive to elevate others while ensuring that we do not create, facilitate or propagate disadvantage, inequality and/or inequity among our community members and stakeholders.

Support research and reviews in education, environment, and health through collaborations with community partners.
Amplify the voices and elevating the experiences of marginalized groups and vulnerable stakeholders.
Collect, create, and curate educational materials for group members and community partners.
Develop creative culturally sensitive academic and professional skill programming for youth and early-career professionals.
Enhance leadership, financial literacy, public speaking, and other professional and technical proficiencies among members and affiliates.
